Where do I start?

For those just beginning their journey into understanding the complexities of our health system, I recommend starting with a few key documentaries and the podcast "MD Means with Brother" linked above. These resources will help you grasp the scope and impact of the "food-like" substances in our diets, the Standard American Diet (SAD), and the corruption within the food, pharmaceutical, medical, agricultural, and cancer industries.

When I was practicing, I truly didn’t intend to cause harm. It was simply the way I was trained—to treat symptoms with pharmaceuticals.

Conventional medicine, as a whole, isn’t designed to focus on root causes. And I want to be clear: no one mistreated Mikah. Your doctor likely cares deeply about you. The issue lies in the way conventional medicine is structured.

Will we ever make real progress in preventing illness if we only focus on treating it, rather than understanding how it began? I like to think of it like this: imagine someone is constantly falling into a hole. The current approach only gives them a ladder to climb out, but never addresses why they keep falling in.

Just like I did, you may think that if there were answers to “why we get sick,” someone would surely share them with us. Or that the processed foods we eat wouldn’t be legally sold if they were harmful. And if natural substances worked better, they would be prescribed, right?

I was wrong. When I went through medical and nursing school, we were trained to treat, not to prevent, and certainly not to understand the root cause of illness. There was little to no emphasis on nutrition, and we were taught to focus on symptom management rather than holistic healing.

Conventional medicine can be life-saving, but there’s so much more to the story—especially today, when we face rising rates of obesity, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, cancer, anxiety, depression, and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Here’s the problem: When it comes to the "gold standard" in medical practice—randomized controlled trials—who do you think funds those studies? Is it going to be a multi-billion-dollar pharmaceutical company backing a study on the benefits of diet, organic foods, or natural substances?

Or is it more likely that they’ll fund research into the latest chemotherapy drugs, which are highly profitable, patentable, and able to generate billions of dollars?

It’s hard to accept, but this is the reality. This is why I chose to leave my career in conventional medicine and dedicate myself to raising awareness about the importance of a holistic, root-cause approach to health. It’s why I’m speaking up—so that others don’t have to go through the same painful journey that I did.

I urge you to start by watching the documentaries, reading the testimonials, and asking questions.

Open your mind and start asking yourself: What’s in my food? Where does it come from? Why did I get this illness? The answers may surprise you, but once you start looking, you’ll realize there’s much more to health than what we've been told.
